Questions

Please give me a call. I am very keen to participate. Also I have a daughter - she is only 8 who is grinding. Wonder if you would be interested in her. I am interested to know if this is hereditary. My dad was a grinder too

Hi Suzanne, Thank you for your interest with my study. I understand your concern for your daughter - my 7yo has been bruxing since she was 3 - she was actually who inspired this project! Unfortunately, my participants have to be between 18 and 50. Should we find that this treatment helps, she may be able to benefit once the study is complete. As far as the condition is concerned - research doesn't point to a hereditary cause. Much of the research points to the cause being the body trying to deal with excess stress, and resorting to "preparing for battle" in a way - grinding the teeth (to sharpen them). We've changed a lot since those days! Please send your contact info to unitecbruxingstudy@gmail.com, and I'll confirm your eligability and be in touch shortly with more specific timeframes, etc. Many thanks, Lorelei

Thank you for your interest in my study. There will be appointments available during the day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The appointments will be during Unitec Clinic hours - between 9am and 4pm. Data collection will start within the next 2 weeks. There is no monetary reimbursment for the study. You will receive 4 free osteopathic treaments, which will address the bruxing and other dysfunctions that may lead to the grinding. Thanks again for your interest. If you have any other questions, please contact me at unitecbruxingstudy@gmail.com. Regards, Lorelei

How do I go about being included in this study? I fit the criteria. Is the treatment mobilisation or manipulation?

Hi - thanks for your interest! The treatment is a via a variety of osteopathic techniques, designed to address parts of your body that aren't working as well as they should. If part of your spine isn't moving as well as it should, manipulation may be used to free the restriction. If you'd prefer not to be manipulated, there are other techniques that can be used to restore motion to the area without a manipulation. As for being included in the study, please send me some information about your bruxing to unitecbruxingstudy@gmail.com. I'll be looking for your email. Thanks, Lorelei
