Does back pain interfere with your everyday life? (Auckland)

If you are aged between 16 - 65 and have suffered with significant low back pain for 3 months or longer, then this study will interest you.

Does back pain interfere with your everyday life? (Auckland)

Low back pain (LBP) affects 70-95% of the adult population, and 6-10% of cases progress to chronicity. It has been found in previous studies that there is an altered muscle-firing pattern in people with LBP compared to those without.
Recent research has suggested that relaxation training for the muscles of the low back may decrease pain and disability in the chronic LBP population.
This study aims to test this hypothesis.
For more information on the muscle relaxation training, please see the attached 'Information Sheet'

What is required from the participant?

1 hour clinical session per week for 6 weeks, and a follow up session after 6 weeks. Plus six weeks of daily stretching at home for around 15 minutes per day.
