Do you have Asthma?
We are looking for volunteers to take part in a clinical study for a new medicine that is being developed to treat Asthma

If you are 18-65, currently take an inhaled preventer medicine i.e. Flixotide, are in general good health, a non smoker/ ex smoker, we would love to hear from you.

What is required from the participant?

Eight study visits between 1-4 hours long with lung function testing. Six telephone follow up calls.
Participants will be reimbursed for their time and travel expenses.

Hi, Just wondering if I will have an opportunity to consult with my doctor prior to undertaking the trial as I am currently on a programme/course of Flixotide with the aim of bring my asthma under control and feel I should advice him of any other treatments I would undertake so that any impact on my current programme can be assessed? Kind regards, Alan

We strongly recommend you consult with your GP prior to committing to the trial. I send out the information to you first so would encourage you to take this to your GP so they can ensure it is appropriate for you to participate.

We provide you with compensation for travel costs and inconvenience which works out on average $100 per visit.

Yes, you definitely have to be 18 years old to participate.

Can you please advise whether the clinical research is done during the week and weekends? I would like to participate but will consult with family doctor first as well.

We can only conduct this trial during the week. Visits will start early in the morning so patients can expect to be done by midday at the latest.

We are recruiting now on an ongoing basis. Visits are on average once per fortnight, always in the morning and they can last between 1.5-4hrs in length depending on what visit it is. There are 7 visits in total over 11 weeks

We do spirometry (lung function testing), blood pressure, take blood samples and ECG's (heart trace). I am happy to explain in more detail if you call through.

Since there are 7 visits in total starting around 8am, it would probably be more convenient for you if you were in Auckland. It's up to you if you want to travel to Auckland every fortnight for visits.

We are still looking for participants. Our clinic days are on a Tuesday and Thursday but we can be reasonably flexible if needed.
