Do you like dairy? help us find out if certain dairy products can improve your blood lipids and other metabolic markers

If you are a 18-70 year old male and overweight or obese who would like to take part in a nutrition study, than you are invited to take part in our study investigating the effect of cow's milk on metabolic markers and blood lipids.

This is a dietary study with 3 treatment arms that each last for 3 weeks in duration. Interested participants will visit the HNU for a 40 minute screen visit where we will take a blood sample to identify whether you have markers of metabolic syndrome such as raised blood lipids or glucose. You will also be asked to do a free liver ultrasound, in order to determine fatty liver. If you are eligible for the study we will then give you a dairy treatment to eat every day for 3 weeks, during which time you would come to HNU for weekly blood tests. You will receive each of the 3 treatments (including one ‘placebo’ control) separated by a 3 week break each time. The study will run for ~4 months.

What is required from the participant?

Yes you will recieve a small gratuity; $20 travel expenses for all visits to our unit (14 visits), $10 for the screen visit and $180 paid into your bank account at the end of the study. So it will add up to a total of $470. Kind regards Sofie

Hey there, where is the testing location? What is classed as overweight? thanks

Our location is in Mt Eden, with plenty of free parking. You will need to come in the morning before breakfast in order to take a fasting blood sample. Our cut off for overweight is BMI over 25; height (m)*height (m)/weight. Cheers
