Research Categories Explained

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH (ALL)
Selecting this option to be notified of all scientific study listings.

Treatments and Interventions- Do you have a medical condition? Select this option to be notified of studies that are investigating various treatments (therapies, medications etc…) or interventions (e.g. sport supplements or footwear)

Healthy Volunteers Wanted– Select this option to be notified of studies that are looking for healthy volunteers. Health volunteers are often recruited to explore abnormalities in individuals with specific conditions, so even if you don’t have that particular medical condition, you may still be able to help.
Health volunteers are required for all sorts of interesting research in all areas of human science.

Health Professionals Wanted – Help our researchers, or participate in healthcare research
If you are a health care practitioner or believe that you may be able to help researchers with their studies then select this option.

Often, the studies researchers need to conduct require the input of many health care providers in a given field. Researchers may be able to find enough participants, but may sometimes struggle with finding the practitioners to deliver treatments or interventions. It is common for attitudes and beliefs of practitioners of particular fields of health care to be researched.

For Children– Do you have siblings and care about youth health? Select this option to be notified of studies that are looking for individuals younger than 16 years of age.

Questionnaires and Surveys– select this option to be notified of studies that are primarily survey, questionnaire or interview based.
This type of research is often considered “observational” (as opposed to “experimental” Below), as it does not usually involve the participants to change anything about their lives. The simple act of sharing your experiences or opinions usually requires less of a commitment compared with other types of research, yet still provides extremely valuable information to help guide future research and important decisions.

Experimental Research– select this option to be notified of all studies that are trying something new.
Experimental research, unlike observational research, requires participants to try something new. Sometimes things are tried for the very first time. Often researchers are simply trying to make improvements on existing methods, or are trying existing methods in new settings.
Experimental research can include healthy volunteers and / or individuals with specific conditions or traits.

Assessments and Measures – select this option to be notified of all studies that involve health related assessment or measurements – measures that mean something to you.
Many studies conduct comprehensive measurements as part of their research. These studies can be a great opportunity to learn a little more about yourself and possible receive some assessments that you may not otherwise be able to receive. While all scientific research involves measures of some kind, the studies in this category will have measures that are either commonly conducted in practice or are relevant to the individual.

Clinical Trials– Where medical treatments come from.
Clinical trials are scientific studies designed to help develop new medical treatments (e.g. medications). Clinical trials often need to recruit healthy volunteers as well as individuals with specific medical conditions to help the development of new medical treatments.

CONSUMER RESEARCH (ALL) – select this option to be notified of all consumer research opportunities
Consumer research is research that is conducted for the development of businesses and consumer services and products. Participating in Consumer research can be a great way to have your opinion heard, to try free samples, or even just to get some rewards for your time.

Online Surveys– online surveys can be easily conducted from your computer at home and don’t usually take that long to complete. Select this option to be notifies of all online survey opportunities.
